What Ferrari Color Options are Available?
While red is the most iconic shade for the prancing horse, there are a variety of diversified Ferrari colors available, including bright and pearled yellows (Giallo Modena and Giallo Triplo Strato), or gorgeous historic and rare blues (Blu Pozzi or Azzuro Dino) or amazing whites (Bianco Avus or Bianco Italia). While Ferraris are world-renowned supercars, the color options are just one way that you can configure your Ferrari and personalize it to your style.
What Color Was the First Ferrari?
The most classic of Ferrari color is red, of course, so it should come as no surprise that the first models were in fact red. What may surprise you is that the distinctive Ferrari red color wasn’t a conscious choice made by Enzo Ferrari — rather, at the time of the automaker’s inception, all Italian Grand Prix racecars were assigned the color of racing red, or Rosso Corsa, by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). Vehicles from other nations followed a similar rule in FIA events: for instance, British racecars were green and French racecars were blue.
In the case of Ferrari, Rosso Corsa was a national designation that became an iconic association with the prancing horse brand.
Does Your First Ferrari Have to Be Red?
In the 1990s, more than 85% of Ferraris sold were red, but that’s no longer the case.
While the association with Italian racing may have led some to believe that Ferraris must be in Rosso Corsa, there are numerous other color options available. Since red has such a historical significance, there is a huge selection of hues in this color. When Ferrari debuts a new model, a color is formulated especially for the launch of the model. Rosso Portofino is the newest shade of Ferrari red that was created for the Ferrari Portofino.
